You can craft your own weapons using a mix of Smithing, Woodworking, and Leatherworking. Everyone starts with access to a few basic melee and ranged weapons, but if you want to make more powerful or unique gear, you’ll need to unlock special recipe books. These advanced melee weapons come in five styles: Polearms, Unusual Weapons, Blunt Weapons, Blades, and Axes; each with its own look and use in battle.
This is the same Guide as on this page: Crafting Guide
Let's go over how to craft on RPDND. We use a system we called Simple Crafting/Normal Crafting. This utilizes pre-made recipes that are available in-game & the recipes are posted here on the website as well. All recipes are sorted by the Toolkit required to craft them. Toolkits can be purchased at an Admin Shop.
Tip: Use the website's search function to find things you need for crafting!
Step one is always knowing what you are attempting to craft. For this example let's attempt to craft a Dagger.
Let's go ahead and search or go to the Metal Weapon Crafting page under Weapons
Locate the Rough Dagger Blade recipe on the page and check to see what type of crafting you will need to do. Make sure you use the correct utility block. In this case, an Anvil.
First thing we have to make is a Rough Dagger Blade this item requires 2 things:
Small Molten Iron
Blade Weapon Book
Small Molten Iron is located on Intro to Smithing
To get Small Iron Nuggets you will need to go to the Mines and dig it up from inside one of the "Dirty" Lootboxes. To open the Dirty Lootboxes you will need a Bucket of Water in one hand and place each lootbox in a crafting bench! Keep opening until you get what you need.
3. To get the Blade Weapon Book you will have to purchase it from The Iron Smithy in the Industrial District or, if available, a Player Shop.
4. Next you will follow the recipe on the Metal Weapons page to craft the Rough Dagger Blade on an Anvil.
5. Once you have the Rough Dagger Blade you will move to the next recipe Polished Dagger Blade this recipe requires 1x Rough Dagger Blade and 1x Polish.
6. To craft a Polish you will need to navigate back to the Intro to Smithing page.
7. To craft the Polish you need Sand & Glowstone Dust which you can get from Ology or Panning. Once you have those add it to a crafting bench to produce Polish.
8. Take the newly crafted polish and Rough Dagger Blade and add it to a crafting bench.
9. Now you will have a Polished Dagger Blade! All that's left is crafting a Short Haft and put it all together! Head over to the Intro to Woodworking Page.
10. Let's craft the Short Haft next. Gather Two Chunks of Wood from a nearby Lumbermill and toss them into the crafting bench.. Follow the recipe on this page.
11. Take the Polished Dagger Blade and the Short Haft and combine them into the Crafting Bench.
12. You have officially made your first Dagger!
In Dungeons & Dragons, weapons come in many forms, and each one deals a specific type of damage. The three physical damage types are:
Slashing – Cutting damage from sharp edges, like swords or axes.
Bludgeoning – Impact damage from heavy or blunt weapons, like hammers or maces.
Piercing – Damage from pointed weapons that stab or thrust, like spears or arrows.
Understanding these types can help you choose the right weapon for your fighting style, or for dealing with enemies who are resistant or vulnerable to certain kinds of damage.
These are the most straightforward melee weapons you can make and require no special books or advanced techniques. They’re perfect for beginners who want to get into close-quarters combat quickly and easily. While they’re often simpler in form, they still offer reliable damage and flexibility in a variety of situations.
Examples: Club, Greatclub, Whip, Javelin, Quarterstaff
This group includes fast, slashing weapons, mostly swords, that offer a mix of speed, elegance, and deadliness. To craft these weapons, you’ll need to purchase a specialized recipe book. Blade weapons are ideal for adventurers who like balanced fighting styles with a bit of flair and finesse.
Examples: Dagger, Shortsword, Longsword, Greatsword, Rapier
Focused on overwhelming force, these weapons deliver crushing blows meant to batter bones and break defenses. Whether you're smashing through shields or punishing undead, blunt weapons are a brutal and effective choice. A purchased recipe book is required before crafting them.
Examples: Light Hammer, War Pick, Maul, Mace, Warhammer
These weapons don’t quite fit into the standard categories and often come with quirky shapes, special properties, or uncommon fighting styles. They’re fun to experiment with and can catch opponents off-guard. You’ll need a unique weapon recipe book to begin crafting them.
Examples: Sickle, Flail, Morningstar, Pike, Scimitar
Long and reach-oriented, polearm weapons allow you to control the battlefield from a distance, even in melee. Ideal for keeping enemies at bay, these weapons are perfect for tactical fighters. Crafting them requires a special polearm recipe book.
Examples: Spear, Glaive, Trident, Lance
Powerful and aggressive, axe-style weapons excel at chopping through armor and enemies alike. You’ll need to buy a crafting book to make these, but once crafted, they bring devastating slashing power. These weapons are a great fit for those who prefer brute strength and bold strikes.
Examples: Halberd, Battleaxe, Handaxe, Greataxe
These beginner-friendly weapons are perfect for attacking enemies from a safe distance and are available to craft right away. Most of the weapons in this category require ammunition, like arrows, bolts, or darts, so be sure to keep your supply stocked before heading out. They’re great for adventurers who prefer to strike from afar rather than rush into melee.
Examples: Shortbow, Longbow, Light Crossbow, Blowgun
Ammunition is used by many ranged weapons and is essential for keeping up your attacks from a distance. Whether you’re firing arrows or bolts, you’ll need to have the right ammo in your inventory to make your shots count. Each type is paired with specific weapons and is consumed with every attack, so crafting or stocking up is key! Ammo is lightweight and easy to carry in bulk, and some special types can be enhanced for extra effects like elemental damage or silvering.
Examples: Arrows, Bolts, Blowgun Needles
