Ammunition is used by many ranged weapons and is essential for keeping up your attacks from a distance. Whether you’re firing arrows or bolts, you’ll need to have the right ammo in your inventory to make your shots count. Each type is paired with specific weapons and is consumed with every attack, so crafting or stocking up is key! Ammo is lightweight and easy to carry in bulk, and some special types can be enhanced for extra effects like elemental damage or silvering.
Arrows are the standard ammunition used with shortbows and longbows. Each arrow consists of a slender shaft tipped with a sharp point, designed for range and accuracy. When you fire a bow, you expend one arrow. You can recover half of your expended arrows after a battle by taking a minute to search the battlefield.

Ammunition
You can use a weapon that has the ammunition property to make a ranged attack only if you have ammunition to fire from the weapon. Each time you attack with the weapon, you expend one piece of ammunition. Drawing the ammunition from a quiver, case, or other container is part of the attack (you need a free hand to load a one-handed weapon). At the end of the battle, you can recover half your expended ammunition by taking a minute to search the battlefield.

Bolts are compact, heavy projectiles used with crossbows; light, heavy, or hand. While smaller than arrows, bolts deliver powerful force thanks to the mechanical strength of crossbows. Like arrows, bolts can be recovered after combat, though only about half are typically usable again.

Blowgun needles are tiny, narrow darts used with a blowgun. They deal minimal damage but are favored for stealth and precision. Though lightweight and easy to carry in large numbers, blowgun needles are often poisoned to make them more effective.

Clay bullets are small, dense projectiles typically used with Slings. Shaped from hardened clay or stone, they are inexpensive and easy to craft in bulk. Though simple, these bullets can still pack a punch when hurled at high speeds, making slings a favored weapon among militias and travelers.
