Mounts on RPDND serve multiple purposes. What is important is to remember that all mounts are in-character and no longer considered cosmetic. Mounts (& Pets) can be used to represent a summon or other creature in an event. Note because most mounts and pets do not stand still DMs will ask you to use a piece of wool as their marker. These situations do require you to have the pet/mount somehow via D&D means.
Some mounts can be purchased from local NPCs just go around town and see what you can find!
Specific Mounts that are normally not living creatures can potentially be crafted using high level materials.
Holiday events include Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc. This can also include non-holiday events such as small ooc themed events.
Acquire a mount via D&D means by taming a beast in the wilds during an event. There is not guarantee you will acquire a mount via this method and may take more than 1 attempt.
Casual mounts are in-character mounts gained through various means. The only difference between these mounts and the ones created by spells/class is they can not be used in combat.
Gained through Find Steed, Find Greater Steed, other mount summoning spell, or as a class feature. You can represent these mounts in events by using wool blocks to track their movement across the field or getting a cosmetic mount.
