You are always welcome to check out the server before following this guide by going to: play.rpdnd.com
Server Rules under Server Guide must be agreed to through our discord if you wish to access more channels. But we have more than just those rules on the server and we want to make sure you have a great first experience so be sure to read through them all to avoid any misunderstandings.
Paths of the Past is a more challenging storyline and can result in character death if not handled correctly. This campaign is the chance for us to create challenging events, test limits on creatures, and see how the characters you create handle themselves. But it won't all be doom and gloom so take a peek at our lore in the link below.
*This link will take you to our Westmarches website where all lore is stored!
Character creation has two paths: Civilian or Adventurer. Civilians are the default path everyone can take. This path does not normally take part in combat events or gain skills like magic. They are great for non-D&D roleplayers. Adventurers are your normal dungeons and dragons character sheet with skills, magic (if applicable) and larger pools of HP. This is your typical hero-type character.
Note: We are only using Legacy D&D Content at this time (not the 2024 D&D Content)
Depending on the path you wish to take Civilian or Adventurer the application process is different. Learn more information at the pages linked below
Civilian Path use the Westmarch site to apply & select job on Civilian Job page. Make a ticket in #character-signup on discord and select campaign 2.
Adventurer Path please use #character-signup on discord and select campaign 2 then submit a ticket with the form. You will use the westmarch website to apply as well.
You can not join events until your characters are approved. But you may begin roleplaying after initial creation as long as you are using our provided information.
You will not be able to see this channel category if you have not accepted our rules.
For Paths of the Past we removed the resource pack requirement because it is now available all ingame. Please make sure your resource packs are enabled for the BEST experience. All resource packs will load in after you join. We do utilize custom models but you do not need optifine to see them.
Optional Mods:
Any Map Mod (Journeymap or Xaero's Map)
Shaders (Iris + Sodium Mods work but there are other options)
Distance Mods like: Bobby or Distant Horizons (these can put strain on your computer)
RPDND is a graylist server to encourage people to take a chance and try out our server even if you are not the biggest Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast. You do not need a completed adventurer character sheet to start playing and you can roleplay immediately upon logging in or explore the server and see what we offer. Feel free to ask questions in-game or in discord #help-desk.
Our server works only for Java Minecraft use 1.21.4 to join.

Chatting is fairly simple and straight forward to see the in-game guide just do /chat
When making your Adventurer Character Sheet you will get to a part where it mentions starter equipment or gold always select gold as this will not be calculated ingame. Players all start with 20 copper in-game. Because this is a more difficult campaign you need to be careful with your spending and see if there are ways to trade for your needs versus just paying with coin.
Use command /kit starteritems (or /kits) to get some helpful items for your first few days on the server. This will include some food, some starter resource tools, etc.
Gathering and crafting is a great downtime activity and a way to progress in different professions. Each resource requires an iron tool to be completed and when such tools are used the blocks will automatically return allowing you to gather without destroying the world.
So you have everything set up your application is approved you have been roleplaying for a few days on the server and now you are probably wondering how do I make money and how do I level up?
Leveling is done via Daily Experience gained for logging in at least 1 hour a day.
Money is gained via Events, NPC Quests, Selling Goods, and Player Trading.

Underhaven has various buildings spread out across our underground sanctuary. These buildings unlike campaign 1 have no set function or purpose and players can purchase them as they see fit turning them into shops, houses, guild halls, or a combination. You can have 1 person or 10 people living in your space that is your choice. You can have a shop, a house, and a guild hall and expand your influence in town.
You can become a landowner by buying multiple homes and renting them to other people, you can live in isolation and find the farthest home from civilization or be in the active part of town hearing all the noise and ruckus. The choice is yours.
We will have NPCs across town that will give you tasks to complete for either items or even the rare copper coin! Quests can be completed bi-daily (every 48hrs) or weekly depending on the task.
This is a good way to make copper quickly outside of DM events.
Your first event on RPDND is usually going to fall under: Random Encounter or Noticeboard sign ups and can happen in town or while wandering the wilderness. Your first event can be daunting if you have never played D&D before. But it is a great opportunity to learn! Below are some helpful blogs and articles that have some basic information for you.
A dungeon master will trigger an encounter with DMEmotes a localized broadcast that will describe what is currently happening, what you see, or something happening nearby. You can join said event by finding the event location if you haven't already. The DM will then start talking in OOC and telling you to huddle up or join an event voice channel. Mics are not required but being in the discord is vital to keeping things moving quickly.
Did you start out as a Civilian because you wanted to ease your way into roleplay and the server and now you are ready to take the step into an adventurer? Well follow the linked guide to learn how to go from Civilian to Adventurer without losing your hard earned levels.
